Conditions I Can Help With.
From persistent pain and restricted movement to pelvic discomfort, headaches or post-surgical tension, treatment is tailored to your individual needs.
People seek manual therapy for many different reasons.
From persistent muscular and joint pain to restricted movement, pelvic discomfort, headaches or tension following surgery, injury and inflammation.
At FLO, treatment is not based on a fixed protocol. My approach is to assess the areas and tissues that may be contributing to your symptoms and the wider relationships that may be relevant to your presentation, then choose to use the most appropriate combination of hands-on approaches for your individual needs.
Musculoskeletal pain & restricted movement.
Musculoskeletal symptoms can have more than one contributing factor.
Muscles, fascia, joints and the nervous system work together, and changes in one area can influence movement and load elsewhere in the body.
Treatment may therefore involve working directly on the symptomatic area as well as other relevant tissues.
Back and lower back pain
Neck and shoulder tension
Hip pain and stiffness
Rotator cuff-related shoulder pain
Frozen shoulder
Joint stiffness and reduced mobility
Muscular tension and overload
Movement restrictions and recurring musculoskeletal discomfort

Post-surgical, scar & fascial restrictions.
Surgery and injury can leave changes in the mobility of the tissues surrounding a scar.
In some people, these restrictions may contribute to altered movement, local tension or discomfort even years after the original problem has healed.
Where appropriate, treatment may incorporate Visceral Manipulation or gentle fascial techniques.
I work with:
Scar-related restrictions
Post-surgical tissue restrictions
Adhesion-related restrictions
Fascial tension and reduced tissue mobility
Changes in movement following surgery or injury
Treatment is adapted to the stage of healing and your individual needs.
Women's health & pelvic wellbeing.
The abdomen and pelvis contain multiple interconnected tissues, muscles, fascia and organs. Restrictions or changes in one area can sometimes influence movement and tension elsewhere.
Manual therapy may be appropriate for people experiencing:
Pelvic pain and muscular tension
Painful periods (dysmenorrhoea)
Abdominal or pelvic restrictions
Tension associated with the pelvic region
Post-surgical restrictions affecting the abdomen or pelvis
Manual therapy is not a substitute for medical or gynaecological assessment, particularly where symptoms are new, severe or unexplained. Where appropriate, manual therapy can complement care provided by your GP, physiotherapist, specialist or other healthcare professional.
Digestive & abdominal discomfort.
The digestive system is closely connected with the surrounding abdominal tissues, fascia and diaphragm. When these tissues become restricted or sensitive, they may influence comfort and movement through the abdomen and trunk.
People may seek manual therapy for:
Abdominal tension or restrictions
Bloating and abdominal discomfort
Constipation
Diarrhoea
IBS-related discomfort
Reflux-related tension or discomfort
Restrictions following abdominal surgery
Manual therapy is not intended to diagnose or replace medical management of digestive conditions. If symptoms are new, persistent, severe or unexplained, appropriate medical assessment should be sought.
Headaches, migraines & jaw tension.
Headaches and jaw-related tension can involve several interacting areas, including the neck, shoulders, jaw muscles, fascia and nervous system.
I commonly work with people experiencing:
Tension-type headaches
Migraine-related muscular tension
Neck and upper shoulder tension associated with headaches
Jaw tension
TMJ/TMD-related muscular discomfort
Restricted movement around the jaw and neck
Depending on the presentation, treatment may incorporate musculoskeletal, fascial or Neural Manipulation approaches.
Persistent or recurring pain.
Pain does not always come from a single structure or remain limited to the area where it is felt.
When symptoms are persistent or keep returning, It is important to look at the broader movement and tissue relationships that may be relevant rather than focusing only on the painful area.
Previous injuries, surgery, changes in movement, muscular tension, fascial restrictions and sensitivity of the nervous system can all influence how the body moves and responds.
Not sure if manual therapy is right for you?
You don't need to know exactly what is causing your symptoms before making an appointment.
If your concern isn't listed above, you are welcome to get in touch. I can discuss your presentation with you and determine whether manual therapy is an appropriate option or whether another healthcare professional would be better placed to assess it.
